Mexico’s remittances rebound in first half of 2026
Remittances to Mexico increased 3.1% annually in the first six months of 2026, the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) reported Monday, rebounding from a 4.6% decline in 2025 . Banxico’s data shows that Mexico received US $30.76 billion in remittances between January and June, up from $29.84 billion in the same period of last year. That total was the second highest on record for the first six months of a year, behind only the $31.34 billion Mexico received in remittances in the January-June period of 2024 . More than 99% of the money came into the country via electronic transfers. Banxico also reported on Monday that remittances to Mexico increased 4.2% annually in June to reach $5.47 billion, the second highest monthly total this year after May.
