Universities in Mexico are incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their courses of study in response to the growing global demand for professionals trained in the field. To date, higher education institutions in the country offer some 43 degree programs directly related to AI, data from the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES) revealed.  There are about 3,600 students across Mexico who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate-level AI degree program. Inflation rose slightly in Mexico during the first half of February, lifting annual headline inflation to 3.74% from 3.59%, with core inflation coming in at 3.63%. The Mexican Navy reported Thursday that it had seized approximately 2 tonnes of suspected cocaine off the Pacific coast of the southern state of Chiapas. The Navy Ministry (SEMAR) said in a statement that naval personnel intercepted a boat with 55 packages containing around 2 tonnes of “white power with characteristics similar to cocaine.” The likely cocaine bust occurred near Barra Tonalá, located in northwestern Chiapas near the state’s border with Oaxaca. SEMAR said that the Navy received intelligence about two “suspicious” vessels off Mexico’s southern Pacific coast and subsequently located and followed them. Both vessels were intercepted by the Navy. According to a SEMAR video posted to social media by federal Security Minister Omar García Harfuch, three Guatemalan men were arrested at the same time the suspected cocaine and 1,380 liters of fuel were seized. A deep-sea creature nicknamed the “doomsday fish” — rarely seen by humans because it typically dwells at depths of up to 1,000 meters — was spotted earlier this month on a Mexican beach and videotaped by American tourists. Not only did the video of the oarfish go viral, but the rare sighting led to coverage in both the New York Times and the Washington Post. Some species of oarfish can grow to enormous lengths, such as this 7-meter-long giant oarfish that washed up on shore near San Diego, California, in 1996.
